Starting a blog has been on my 'to do' list for an embarassingly long time, there just always seemed to be something else that needed to be done so it's been pushed to the end of the list on many occasions.
There is no denying 2020 has not been a normal year for us but the extra time has helped us finally get round to lots of behind the scenes tasks....hopefully you've noticed our lovely revamped website complete with lots more images of our food and weddings which should give you all plenty of inspiration!
For our very first blog post it seems to make sense to start with "where it all began".....way back in 2012 at our very first wedding!
At the time I had a very small catering company, Linda Hamilton Catering.... literally just me!, providing freezer fills, desserts and the odd small dinner party.
Catering for our friends wedding was a daunting step but one I'm so glad I took!
Like so many of our current couples Dave and Katie wanted a relaxed day with plenty to eat and drink. They may have had a relaxed day but I definitely didn't!! Catering for nearly 100 guests was a baptisim of fire and just thinking about how I willed my tiny gas hob to boil the biggest pan of potatoes ever brings me out in a cold sweat even now!
But,we made it and managed to serve plenty of hearty canapés followed by a wood fired hog roast and salad buffet and for pudding, a summer berry pavlova stack...something that has been back on the menu this summer!
Several of the people who worked that first day and are still very much part of team today, including Mr Hamilton and Dave and Katie themselves!
We've come an incredibly long way over the last 8 years, with a much needed name change along the way.
Gather & Feast should have catered for over 50 weddings this year as well as some super fun events including Glastonbury. Covid-19 has had a massive impact on us and so many of our fellow suppliers, not to mention our lovely couples. BUT we have adapted and 2020 has brought some really good new experiences like our first, hopefully not last, glamping canteen as well as a return to freezer fills and home deliveries with our super cute little deli boxes.
We're so looking forward to next year and to finally celebrating with our current and new couples. In the meantime there will be more blog posts so let me know if there is anything you would particularly like to see?
Thanks! Lx
